Celebrate Black Classical Musicians at the Colour of Music Festival

Music lovers living in Charleston celebrate black classical musicians.Residents living in Charleston look forward to the annual Colour Of Music Festival on October 18th-22nd. For five years the event has celebrated the history and impact black musicians have achieved in the classical music industry. Little recognition has been given to amazing pioneers in the field of classical music. Festival history honors renowned 18th century composer Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges. The purpose of the festival is to “offer a musical kaleidoscope highlighting the impact and historical significance of black classical composer and performers”.

Performers from all over the world journey to The Color Of Music Festival. Countries such as France, Colombia and Britain will be represented. Ms. Leontyne Price, a very distinguished soprano who has delighted generations with her spectacular vocal is scheduled to be honored. Turning 90 years of age this year, Ms. Price is well respected and credited with making great strides for increased appreciation for black artists.

Classical Music Lovers Living in Charleston Honor Singers and Musicians

The Murray Center Salon sets the scene for the Vocal Recital Series. Voices raised in song bring chills to audience members stirring the soul and lightening the heart. Opening on the 18th of October, Tenor Rodrick Dixon impresses. The series continues with soprano Angela Brown on the 19th. Both performances are at 2 p.m. Also at the Murray Center Salon is the Ebony and Ivory Piano Series. Pianist Nnenna Ogwo’s play mesmerizes those in attendance on October 20th. Although a hard act to follow Dynasty Battles skill is equally amazing on the 21st. Over at 56 Beaufain Street in the Memminger Auditorium, instruments are being tuned. As part of the Chamber Music Series, Cellist Wade Stewart Davis, the Women Virtuosi Orchestra, and the Grimbert Barre Trio have earned quite a following.

For half a decade supporters of the music industry living in Charleston have taken steps to rectify the lack of recognition of black artists on the American and international classical music scene. Celebrate Food, Dancing, and Live Performance at the Latin American Festival

Charleston real estate owners come to the Latin American Festival.A perk of owning a Charleston property is access to all of the cultural events that take place in the city. Head to Downtown Charleston for the MOJA Arts Festival and Celebrate African Culture

The 34th annual MOJA Arts Festival gets underway with vibrant fanfare with the Opening Day Street Parade on September 28th at 6 p.m. Marion Square marks the beginning of the parade route.
